Triangle Birder's Guide - Orange County Birding Sites

Orange County doesn't have the draw of big lakes like the other Triangle counties, but several spots are worth visiting. Mason Farm has a fantastic mix of woodland and field birding and is one of the best overall birding spots in the Triangle. Duke Forest has great birding on its scenic forested trails. Dairyland Road, west of town, is the place to go to see the birds of wide-open fields. Cane Creek, the county's largest lake, is the spot for water birds, though it's closed during much of the winter.
